How AJ Got His Groove Back

Well maybe he hasn't gotten his groove back, but it's early enough in spring training for renewed optimism.

Yesterday the Yankees played their fourth spring training game and AJ Burnett pitched well for two innings.  It’s way too early to get excited over two innings by Burnett, but there were some positive signs.

1.)    Burnett only took 8 pitches to get three outs in the first inning.
2.)    After allowing back to back hits to start the second inning, AJ was forced to work out of the stretch (where his problems arose last year), but was able to continue throwing strikes and forced a ground out and a double play to end the inning.

Based upon the two inning pitched yesterday, it is clear that AJ is throwing strikes and forcing ground balls.  Although its only his first appearance this spring, we saw a few promising signs. Hopefully AJ can come back and compete for the #2 spot in the rotation this season.
