You Have Got To Be Kidding Me !!!

Proctooooooor!!!!
In some rather unusual news this weekend, the Yankees have signed Scott Proctor to a minor league deal.  Proctor, who started his career with the Yankees, will join the Scranton Yankees this Tuesday (Along with Arod) as a relief pitcher.  The last full season Proctor had with the Yankees was 2006 when he pitched 102 innings in 83 games. He was traded during the next season to the Dodgers for Wilson Betemit, so that Joe Torre could continue to destroy his Proctors career.

Proctor was released this past week by the Atlanta Braves in order to call up a Triple-A prospect, Arodys Vizcaino.  Apparently, Proctor wasn't getting the job done with his 2-3 record 1.70 WHIP and his 6.44 ERA.  Even less impressive was his peripherals with Atlanta, as his walk rate was higher than his strikeout rate -5.8BB's/9IP to 5.5K's/9IP.

So that begs the question...Why on earth would the Yankees sign this guy again?????

SIDE NOTE:  Arodys Vizcaino was ranked #13 on Keith Law's Midseason Prospect List earlier this season.  The 20 year old Vizcaino throws a 95 mph fastball, curveball and changeup.  His curveball is his best pitch and considered to be one of the best breaking balls in the minor leagues. Since being called up by Atlanta, Vizcaino has pitched 2.2 innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 2.  Keep an eye out for Vizcaino with the postseason coming up as he could be a pivotal player for Atlanta's success.
